PUBLIC NOTICE - Help Wanted (Electric Utilities Superintendent)

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Daily management and supervision of Lake Placid Village Electric Department, planning construction, coordinating operation of power stations, transmission lines, distribution systems and supervising staff, all in accordance with general policies of the Village Board of Trustees with wide

Leeway for the exercise of independent judgment and related work as required.

 

SKILLS:  Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of maintenance and operation of a village electrical system and management and development of electrical power program; good knowledge of principles of administration and supervision; ability to develop plans, work schedules, programs and designs for construction, repair and modification of electrical utilities; ability to make effective written and oral presentations; ability to communicate effectively with the public; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

PROMOTIONAL:  Examination open to current employees of the Lake Placid Village Electric Department having three (3) years of full time permanent status as an Assistant Electric Utility Superintendent; or four (4) years of full-time permanent status as a Line Foreworker; or five (5) years of full-time permanent status as a Chief Lineworker; or six (6) years of full-time permanent status as a 1st Class Lineworker.

 

OPEN COMPETITIVE:  Either:

  1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Electric, Civil Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience in electric utility operations and construction; or

  2.  An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a)

 

SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with Experience.
