Biography:

            Mayor Craig Randall was elected to his first four-year term in office in March 2009.  He is a native Lake Placidian who retired from NBT Bank of Lake Placid in 2007.  Mayor Randall attended Lake Placid Central School through eighth grade and after graduating from Northwood High School and attending Syracuse University, began his banking career at the Bank of Lake Placid as a teller working his way up to Executive Vice President and Senior Lending Officer.  During the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympic Games, Randall served on the Lake Placid Olympic Organizing Committee Budget Committee and as liaison between the Bank and the Olympic Organizing Committee throughout the planning phase and during the Games.  At retirement, he was Vice President and Regional Small Business Banking Officer for NBT.  Additionally, he and his wife, Cheryl, are the owners of the Northway Motel in Lake Placid, a business he has operated since 1976.

 

            Committed to community service, Randall has served and continues to serve many community and regional organizations.  He is President & Chair of the Deo Coburn Educational Foundation that annually awards more than $300,000 in scholarships to high school and alternative students within the Adirondack Blue Line.  He currently serves as a trustee and treasurer of North Country Life Flight.  For many years he served as board trustee and treasurer of the Placid Memorial Hospital and served on the consolidation board which negotiated the merger between the Placid hospital and the General Hospital of Saranac Lake resulting in Adirondack Medical Center (Adirondack Health).  He went on to serve the AMC Board of Trustees for six years, the last three as Board Chair.  He is past trustee of Adirondack Community Trust, the North Elba Historical Society, past president of the Lake Placid Chamber of Commerce, past treasurer of NYSEF, and he is a former member of the Essex County Development Corporation Board and the W. Alton Jones Cell Science Center's Institutional Review Board.

 

            As Mayor of Lake Placid, he has been appointed to and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the World Union of Olympic Cities (sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee), and is Chair of the New York State Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) Nominating Committee.
