Childcare Survey: North Elba/Lake Placid Development Commission

TAKE THE SURVEY HERE

Background:

The Town of North Elba is conducting a survey to determine the childcare needs of the community. The survey will be available to the public starting March 1.

The North Elba Town Board has determined that universal access to quality daycare is important to the community.  Studies indicate that children who attend quality childcare are healthier, more productive, and less likely to require public assistance as they mature. Daycare opportunities also promote a more productive and stable workforce.

In May of 2023 the Town Board reached out to the Lake Placid / North Elba Development Commission and asked that body to examine the current situation regarding childcare opportunities.  The newly formed Childcare Study Committee developed a survey with an eye toward identifying and quantifying the needs of the community.  They plan to use the information gathered from the survey to develop private / public partnerships to fill those needs.
