Community Meeting to Explore Potential Economic Development Project in Lake Placid
The purpose of the meeting is to gauge public interest and seek comment regarding the possibility of applying for state funding through either the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) or NY Forward (NYF) program. These initiatives offer opportunities for strategic investments in infrastructure, economic development, and community enhancement projects aimed at fostering growth and improving quality of life. The Town and Village are considering applying for either the 2024 or 2025 cycle.
The proposed project area under consideration is between the Downtown Diner and the Adirondack Corner Store. While specific project details are still in the earliest stages of discussion, the Town and Village seek input from residents, business owners, and stakeholders to determine feasibility and help shape potential proposals.
Local elected officials and Adam DeSantis, Economic Development Director, will be on hand to assist in answering questions about the program.
Both the DRI and NYF programs require some level of local investment, and community engagement is crucial in understanding feasibility, identifying priorities, and ensuring that proposed projects align with the needs and aspirations of the town.
All interested individuals are encouraged to attend the public meeting on March 19th to learn more about the proposed initiatives and provide feedback. For those unable to attend, alternative methods for submitting comments or suggestions will be made available.
